Yushi Yashima

I created a honeycomb-shaped, translucent screen made of straws stacked parallel to each other. Behind the screen were real flowers, and in front of the screen was a projection of flowers filmed in the venue. Due to the effect of the honeycomb-shaped and translucent screen, the image of the flowers and the real flowers could overlap perfectly and interfere with each other. However, over time, the real flowers withered, and a gap gradually emerged between the image of the flowers and the real flowers. This work allows the viewer to simultaneously see the “real image” and “virtual image” overlapping, making the perception of the viewer ambiguous. The effect of the screen gives a new texture to the visual expression.

　ストローを平行に積み上げたハニカム状の透過性のあるスクリーンを制作。そのスクリーンの奥に本物の花、スクリーンを挟む反対側には、会場で撮影された花の映像を映す。ハニカム状の透過性のあるスクリーンにより、映像の花と本物の花はズレることなく重なり合って見ることができる。しかし、時間 の経過とともに、本物の花は枯れ、徐々に映像の花と本物の花との間にズレが生じる。〈実像と虚像〉を同時に重ねて見ることができるこの作品は、鑑賞者の知覚を曖昧なものとし、スクリーンの効果により、映像表現に新たな質感を与える。
