Yushi Yashima

I threw a camera into the sea and took footage of the scenery. I entrusted the act of filming itself to the camera, disconnecting the viewer from the body. What can the eyes of a machine see and record? I entrusted the act of seeing to the eyes of a machine and recorded the scenery in 240fps slow motion. The recorded scenery shakes our perception of the world that exists around us as a matter of course, through the flow of time, speed, motion, and rotation. The scenery melts into the footage and flows out, blending together.

　カメラを海に投げ、風景を撮影した。撮影行為そのものをカメラに委ね、ビュワーを身体から切り離す。機械の眼には何が見え、何を記録するだろうか。見ることを機械の眼に託し、240fpsのスローモーションで風景を記録した。記録された風景は、時間の流れ、速度、運動、回転により、私たちが見ているあたりまえにつながった世界の認識を揺るがす。風景は映像に溶けだし、混ざり合いながら流れ出す。
